What is Soul Sculpt?

A Q&A with Shaini — founder of SoulSculpt.
SoulSculpt grew from my personal journey through perimenopause and somatic strength training. Below, I’ve answered the most common questions women ask me about this unique method.

1. The Method: What Is SoulSculpt?

What exactly is SoulSculpt?

SoulSculpt is somatic strength educational training for women 40+. It blends strength, fascia-informed mobility, breathwork, and nervous system awareness. It’s not just a workout—it’s a grounded, nourishing, and deeply empowering practice that helps you get strong from the inside out.

How is SoulSculpt different from yoga, regular fitness, or Pilates classes?

While SoulSculpt is inspired by yoga and Pilates, it’s a completely different experience. We don’t move to music, follow set reps, or race through routines. Instead, we educate & train with awareness, using breath-led movement, fascia-focused mobility, and intentional strength work.

Unlike fitness classes, there’s no “go hard or go home” energy. And unlike Pilates or yoga, it’s not about perfection or just alignment - it’s about resilience, nervous system support, and hormonal alignment. We work with simple props, barefoot, and in silence, creating space for deep connection and transformation.

Is SoulSculpt a type of yoga, strength training, or something new?

It’s something new. SoulSculpt lives in the space between traditional modalities. It’s intelligent strength training informed by breath, fascia, and alignment—designed to meet the needs of women in transition.

Why did you create SoulSculpt?

Because nothing else supported me in the way I needed. As I moved through perimenopause, traditional yoga no longer grounded me, and fitness classes overstimulated my system. I wanted to get strong—but also feel steady, connected, and calm. SoulSculpt emerged from that desire—and from years of teaching and listening to women.

How is SoulSculpt influenced by your background in yoga and Pilates?

Everything I’ve studied is woven in. You’ll feel the alignment of Iyengar yoga, the core awareness of Polestar Pilates, and the breath-centred movement of somatic practices. But SoulSculpt breaks free of tradition. It’s modern, feminine, cyclical—and created for this exact phase of life.

2. Who It’s For & How It Helps

Is SoulSculpt only for women in perimenopause or menopause?

No—but it’s designed with you in mind.
SoulSculpt was born from my own experience of navigating hormonal shifts. The physical symptoms—fatigue, anxiety, bloating, insomnia—aren’t just in your head. They’re real, and your body needs a new kind of support. This method meets you where you are, helping you build strength, steadiness, and self-trust.

What is sarcopenia, and how does SoulSculpt help prevent it?

Sarcopenia is the age-related loss of muscle mass and strength—and it begins around age 35, accelerating during perimenopause due to hormonal decline. SoulSculpt helps combat sarcopenia by integrating progressive resistance training, time under tension, and functional movement—all essential tools to protect your muscle tissue and vitality.

Can SoulSculpt help prevent osteoporosis?

Yes. Osteoporosis, or bone loss, also accelerates as estrogen levels drop. SoulSculpt includes weight-bearing exercises, impact work (like jumping), and resistance training that are key to building and maintaining bone density. We do it in a way that’s safe, progressive, and adaptable for all levels—with low-impact options always available.

Is jumping part of SoulSculpt? What if I can’t jump?

We include short bursts of jumping or impact training—because they are one of the most effective ways to stimulate bone growth and improve cardiovascular health. But I always offer low-impact alternatives like bouncing, heel drops, or plyometric variations that feel good in your body. This is about honouring your capacity—not pushing through pain.

What kind of strength training is SoulSculpt?

SoulSculpt uses a feminine, fascia-aware approach to strength. It’s not just about lifting heavier weights—it’s about building intelligent, functional strength that works with your hormones, not against them.
We focus on:

  • Time under tension (slow, controlled movement)

  • Complex movement patterns that train balance and coordination

  • Functional resistance with bands, balls, and dumbbells

  • Somatic awareness and breath-led pacing

You’ll get stronger—but in a way that supports your nervous system, pelvic floor, and recovery.

Can I build strength without lifting heavy weights?

Yes. SoulSculpt builds strength through progressive overload, but not only by increasing weight. We challenge your muscles in multiple ways:
– Increasing time under tension
– Adding complexity to movement
– Working with instability and control

But if you're ready to lift heavier, I’ve also included structured Strong Sculpt:  heavy lifting practices in the bonus library , so you can safely train at the gym or at home with heavier equipment.

What is “time under tension,” and why is it important?

Time under tension means holding or slowing down movements so your muscles work harder and longer. This builds strength, control, and endurance—especially helpful if you're not using heavy weights, or you're rebuilding strength after a break, injury, or hormonal shifts.

Is there cardio in SoulSculpt? I thought strength training was enough.

Yes, but not in the traditional sense. We integrate short bursts of cardiovascular movement using a method called SIT (short interval training), which is ideal for women in perimenopause.

These are brief, powerful sequences that raise your heart rate without overwhelming your system.
Why this matters:
– It supports metabolic and heart health
– Improves cognitive clarity
– Balances blood sugar and cortisol
– Trains your cardiovascular system in a low-impact, sustainable way

You won’t find long, draining cardio sessions here—but you will find cardio that nourishes and energises your whole system.

Why do you use complex movement patterns instead of simple reps?

Because your body moves in spirals and shifts—not just in straight lines.
SoulSculpt sequences involve twisting, pulsing, stabilising, and transitioning, training your body to stay strong, coordinated, and balanced through real-life movement. It also helps engage your fascia, which supports fluidity and injury prevention.

During perimenopause, this becomes even more important:

  • Hormonal shifts can impact coordination, proprioception, and joint integrity

  • Fascia tends to become drier and stiffer, increasing injury risk

  • Linear, repetitive training can sometimes overstimulate the nervous system

Complex, fascia-aware movement restores resilience, hydration, and whole-body intelligence—helping you move through this phase with more grace and power.

However, there is an important nuance.

Because these movement patterns are more complex, it becomes harder to use heavier loads and lower rep ranges—which are key drivers of muscle hypertrophy and maximal strength.

While SoulSculpt does build strength, coordination, and muscular endurance, it does not target pure strength and muscle growth as directly as simpler, more traditional strength training does.

And this matters—especially for women 40+, where maintaining muscle mass and bone density becomes non-negotiable.

That’s why I created StrongSculpt.

What is StrongSculpt—and why is it part of the method?

StrongSculpt is the strength-focused layer of the method.

It uses simpler movement patterns, heavier weights, and lower rep ranges to directly target:
• Muscle hypertrophy (preventing sarcopenia)
• Bone density
• Maximal strength

This is where we remove complexity to allow for progressive overload in its most effective form.

StrongSculpt complements SoulSculpt.

One builds intelligence, control, and fluid strength.
The other builds raw strength, structure, and resilience.

Together, they create a complete system.

This is not theoretical—
this is how I train myself.

Why is balance and controlled mobility part of SoulSculpt?

As estrogen declines, many women experience joint instability, poor coordination, and an increased risk of falls. That’s why SoulSculpt includes:

  • Balance work

  • Core stability

  • Mobility through strength

You’re not just building muscle—you’re building confidence and control.

I feel exhausted and out of sync. I've heard about cortisol—will this help?

Yes. During perimenopause, many women experience cortisol dysregulation—especially in the second half of their cycle. This shows up as fatigue, anxiety, poor sleep, bloating, and a wired-but-tired feeling.

SoulSculpt is designed to support your nervous system and cortisol rhythm by combining strength with breath-led pacing, grounding sequences, and conscious recovery.
We don’t push through stress—we train with your body, not against it. Many women tell me they feel energised, clearer, and calmer after class.

What if I haven’t exercised in a long time? Can I still join?

Yes. SoulSculpt is completely adaptable. You don’t need to be fit, flexible, or experienced. You need only the willingness to show up for yourself. I offer modifications, and you’ll be guided in how to build strength at your own pace.

Do I need to start SoulSculpt from the beginning to get results?

  • No. You do not need to start from the beginning.

  • SoulSculpt is not a linear programme where missing sessions puts you “behind”.
Each class is designed to be self-scalable, adaptable, and rooted in somatic awareness.

  • You can join at any point and meet the practice where your body is that day.

  • In every class, you are guided to:

  • Choose your own pace

  • Adjust load or remove weights entirely

  • Pause when needed

  • Move faster or slower based on your energy

  • Prioritise form and quality over repetition or intensity

  • This is not accidental — it is central to the method.

What if I feel “behind” or inconsistent?

  • That feeling is common — and it’s exactly why this work exists.

  • There is no catching up.
    There is no falling behind.
There is only returning to the body and listening.

  • If learning to hear your body feels difficult, that itself is part of the practice.
Over time, this skill transfers far beyond the mat.

4. Props, Setup & Practical Info

Do I need props?

Yes you’ll need:
– A pair of light weights to start with (1–2kg)
– As you progress you can start adding heavier weights (3–5 kg and up)
– A Pilates ball (20 cm)
– A resistance loop band
– A yoga mat
– Optional: yoga blocks or bolster

You can improvise with household items at first—water bottles, soup cans, books, etc.

Do I need my camera on in the live class?

No. You’re always welcome to keep your camera off. That said, turning it on can help me offer gentle guidance or support, especially in the first class. It’s completely your choice.

I’m not based in Europe — can I still join live?

Yes. Women join from many different time zones. Classes are held in the morning Central European Time, and if the live time doesn’t work for you, you can always follow along with the replay.
